Making its humble beginnings as a concept on a cocktail napkin sometime in early January 2011, it was finally brought to life as a Facebook application on May 31st 2011. Since then the Museum of me has had over 11 million visitors, and over 2 million personal museums have been created by these visitors. Even though it been a year since it was launched (which is a long time in the social world) it’s been still being talked about within the online world and referenced in many advertising and marketing events as the right way to do Social.

If one were to look at a cross section of the out the most successful social campaigns in recent times, the one common factor across all of them would be the ability to connect with people on an emotional level. People love to share with others things that they can identify with and things that are unique to them. Jayant Murty and Stephanie Gan the brains behind the Museum of Me knew that if they can create such an emotional experience then people would connect with it. People really don’t care about your brand and marketing messages, but they do care about how your brand makes them feel.

For those of you who may have still not tried the application out, Museum of Me is a Facebook application that pulls your personal information from your Facebook page to create a virtual museum of your digital life. Photos, videos and friends are presented as pieces of art and are displayed as if it were in a museum or art gallery.

Check out Museum of Me here: http://museumofme.intel.com
