It runs from the 25th of May through to the 11th of June with an estimated 500,000 flocking to the iconic and free event. It is ‘Lights on’ from 6pm – midnight for 18 days.

Intel has had the privilege of working on two collaborations this year, both visible on the facades of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) old building and their brand new wing, all powered by 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processors.

The external front façade of the old MCA features an amazing audio-visual piece inspired by the Russian Constructivist movement by multimedia artist Justene Williams, the projection see a series of constantly evolving animations designed and mapped to the building’s architecture, requiring fifteen powerful projectors – each 20K HD – to beam the animated sequences onto the building’s façade all powered by 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processors.

Vivid 2012 time lapse from Ian Waldie on Vimeo.

On the brand new façade of the MCA (below) is an installation that involves a unique meeting of artists with the musical stylings of will.i.am forming the basis of an interactive app created by DJ Keebz and the codemasters at the Spinifex Group that enables you to literally play the building as though it were an instrument.

Using arm and hand gestures, the public can now direct the this artwork and rearrange will.i.am’s loops and samples, controlling the tone and chord progression enabling participants the opportunity to unleash their creativity on the dynamic geometric canvas of the new MCA façade.

*** Photo is courtesy of David Clare
