<p>With nearly 450 million users on cloud storage services such as DropBox, Apple iCloud, and Microsoft SkyDrive, cloud computing has radically changed the ability for users to run programs and store data. Instead of transferring files from one machine to another, users can now connect to these services via the Internet from various devices, such as their cell phone or personal computer. <br /><br />“It used to be to share an experience, you had to go through so much more,” said Jason Waxman, Intel’s General Manager for Cloud Computing. Rather than taking a picture, getting it developed, and mailing it to a single person, cloud computing enables real-time sharing with networks of friends. Once a user’s picture is uploaded onto a server, that photo is then replicated in multiple places. <br /><br />Not only is there backup in case one copy is lost, but now networks of friends can access the same picture, at the same time, regardless of their locations.
